Formed April 2001. Started with a "make and take" program at the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum and started flying "officially" at the Pueblo Chemical Depot (PCD) summer of 2001. Due to September 11, the club had to move its launch site. The club has flown from the Pueblo Motor Sports Park and is now flying at the Hudson Ranch.
Our club is located in Pueblo West Colorado with our main launch site elevation of 5477 Feet. We're a group of Men, Boys, Women and Girls of all ages who have discovered the enjoyment that building and flying model rockets has to offer. S.C.O.R.E. has been a very active club since 2001 participating in many local events and youth organizations. Our membership continues to grow each year with around 56 members at this present time.
We hold model rocket MAKE and TAKE sessions at Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum on the second Saturday of the month. The museum is located six miles east of Pueblo on the grounds of the Pueblo Memorial Airport. It starts at 9 AM. Cost is $3 museum admission (1/2 the regular admission price) for persons aged 10 years and over. The Rocket kits are FREE 3 Engines can be purchased for $6. This is a building only session and flying is done one week later at the clubs' launch site on the Hudson Ranch located southwest of Pueblo Colorado. Participants will build a simple skill level 1 model rocket. Generally it takes approximately 1 1/2 hours to build the rocket. Instruction includes model rocket safety and basic instruction on how a model rocket works and basic aerodynamics. Call or E-mail the club to see how "Make and Take" can be brought to your location. Building supplies are provided or BRING YOUR OWN KIT AND SUPPLIES.
